Kalakriti Contemporary Cordially invites for an exhibition comprises of a series of paintings by Malavika Reddy titled 'A place called “Here", and the Japanese art of flower arrangements Ikebana by Mrs Rekha Reddy.
A place called “Here” depicts Malavika's walk into a dreamy and surreal place, where the vivid colours of the wild and mystical flowers and the trees camouflaged intrinsically with the birds and reptiles living there since from the origin of the world, which inspired Malavika to paint the series.
Ikebana by Mrs Rekha Reddy - In Japanese "ike" means to arrange and "bana" ori-gens from the word "hana" meaning flower. It was introduced in Japan in the sixth century by Chinese Buddhist missionaries, who had formalized the ritual of offering flowers to Buddha. The art is based on the harmony of simple linear constructions and the appreciation of the subtle beauty of flowers and natural material, such as branches and stems. Mrs Rekha Reddy has been practising Ikebana for thirty years and has mastery in this art.
