Theodore Mariano Mesquita was born in 1967 in Panjim, Goa. He completed his BFA in Painting from the University of Mumbai in 1988, and later completed his Masters from the M S University of Baroda in 1990. In 1998, he completed a Residency in Drawing and Painting at AR.CO: Centro de Arte e Communicaco Visual, in Lisbon, Portugal, then completed another Residency at The Script Road, Art Festival, Fundacao Oriente, Macau, China. The artist has lectured in Drawing, Painting and History of Art at the Goa College of Art, Panjim. He is the recipient of the National Fellowship from Ministry of Culture, Government of India in 1993; the ‘Excellence Award’, Emerging Artist of India, at the Harmony Show, 2000, and has won the 1st prize in Kala Academy’s State Art Exhibitions for two consecutive years, Panjim, Goa.
He has held several exhibitions of his works, his prominent solo & joint exhibitions include, ‘World without end’, an exhibition of digital lithographs at Fundação Oriente Art Gallery, Goa, & ‘A dialogue of colours’, at Fundação Oriente art gallery, Macau. Apart from this, his works have been featured in various exhibitions across the world.
