Soghra Khurasani, born in 1983, studied BFA in Painting at Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam; and MVA in Printmaking at MS Unversity of Baroda. Baroda has transformed her thought wise. She not only works in the traditional means like woodcut prints and etchings, she also works in mediums like serigraphy and digital print. In Soghra’s words, “concepts and ideas are very important for me to work; and skills, techniques, mediums and forms become a means to put forth my concept”. Soghra is a very thoughtful artist. She tries to depict the current universal social issues which deal with human rights.
Soghra received the Scholarship from Krishnakriti Foundation, and was awarded the Kala Sakshi Memorial Trust Award, New Delhi, in 2009. She has been a residency artist with Religare Residency, New Delhi. Soghra’s works has been featured in many shows held in various cities in India. Apart from these, she has also been a part of the several art camps and workshops. Besides these, her works also comprises of videos, texts and installations.
