Samir Mondal

Samir Mondal’s most amazing contribution to Indian art of modern times is a continual revival of water colour.
Graduated from Government College of Arts, Calcutta in 1975
Born in Bengal , based in Bombay , global in thinking , that is Samir in a nut shell . Working only with watercolours on paper, Samir is a master of his medium. His control over the colour, the way he makes them dance and flow and move to his wish, is a delight to see. The mix of colours, the subtlety of tone, the play of space and block , is the work of an expert in charge . His figures, his still lives, his florals, are each a joy. No adjective is too excessive. Samir has shown in galleries all over the world and his collectors are private and institutional.
