M Srinivasa Rao

Srinivasa was always fascinated by the intricate patterns and carvings in ancient temples in the unique artistic medium of creating sculptural artefacts. He takes inspiration from traditions and beliefs. His sculptures are a unique combination of traditional figures and animal bodies. For example, Goddesses with a body of bull or cheetah, he stretches his creativity into a fantasy land and lets his works do the talking.

M Srinivasa Rao was born in Prakasham Distrct of Andhra Pradesh in 1982. He studied BFA and MFA in Sculpture from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, and University of Hyderabad respectively. Prior to this he has done a four year diploma course in Traditional Sculpture and Architecture from SVITSA in Tirupati with specialization in wood carving. He is the recipient of Krishnakriti Scholarship; 11th State award organized by Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad; and Hyderabad Art Society. Srinivasa’s works were featured in India Art Fair, New Delhi presented by Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad in 2012. Apart from this, his works were featured in several group exhibitions.
