Born on July 2, 1984, Hetal obtained her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Hetal was awarded the Scholarship from the Krishnakriti Foundation in 2009; and in 2010, Hetal won the prestigious French Embassy and the Krishnakriti Foundation Fellowship for a residency at Marseille, France.
Hetal, trained as a painter, she went on to experiment with variety of media. Her works comprises of videos, performances and site specific installations. Her recent performance ‘Cross & Knot- II’ was shown in Ecole de Beaux Art Marseille, France, 2011; ‘Amputation’, a 30 minute video performance was shown in Italy, also in 2011; a collaborative project / performance ‘Swastika’ with Mr. Marcus Wood was shown in France in 2010, amongst others.
Apart from these, her works were featured in several group shows, including, ‘Two Position’, a joint show at Gallery Seven, New Delhi; ‘Art Makers’, Exhibit 320 Gallery, New Delhi; joint show of The French Emabassy- Krishnakriti French Fellowship Awardees 2010, Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad; and ‘Ravi Jain Annual Art Exhibition’, Dhoomimal Art Gallery, New Delhi. She has also participated in several national camps and workshops, namely, Krishnakriti Art Camp organized by Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad; Indian Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar, Punjab; Faculty of Fine Arts, M S University, Baroda and International residency ‘Sowing Seeds’ organized by Kaman Art Foundation, Rajasthan.
