Avijit Dutta

Born in 1974, Avijit Dutta obtained his BFA in Painting from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He was awarded by the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata; and the Certificate of Merit from the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Avijit has received Vice Versa Residency Fellowship at the Shang Yuan Art Museum in Beijing, China, under the International Artist Exchange Program in 2014.

Avijit has done several solo shows including the ones at India Habitat Centre presented by Art Positive, New Delhi; Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad; Art Land Gallery, Mumbai; and Gallery Domus, Kolkata. The most recent solo works ‘Life is a deck of cards’ was showcased at Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad. His works has been featured in several group shows nationally and internationally, the most prominent ones are: India Art Fair, New Delhi presented by  Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad; TAG Art Gallery, Pune; Prakrit Art Gallery, Chennai; ITC Sonar, Kolkata; Sanskrit Art Gallery, Kolkata; Point of View Art Gallery, Mumbai; Commom wealth Games 2010, New Delhi; Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai presented by Camlin Art Foundation; Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai; ‘Nostalgia’, Visual Art Gallery, Delhi.

The artist has curated few Art exhibitions, namely, ‘Lost in Transition’ (the forgotten art of letter writing) at The Harrington Street Arts Centre (Kolkata) in 2014. In the same year, he curated a show on watercolors with artists from India and China titled, ‘Tradition & Transition’ at Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad.

Apart from this, Avijit has extensively travelled and worked in Africa, Japan, Italy, France, Cambodia, Greece, Denmark, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Prague, Hong Kong, South Africa, Norway and Thailand.
